Top Ten Tuesday: The 10 Things I Will Try So Hard To Do This 2016 Without Exploding Into Rainbow-Colored Confetti || Plus I Want My Own Personal Munchkin

So my younger sister figured out what my biggest pet peeve is. Guess what? The sound of nails on a chalkboard ermagerd *shudders*. That kills me. And you know what else kills me and makes my temper spike when I usually don’t get mad, and ends up with me screaming at someone? WHEN PEOPLE DO NOT HANDLE MY BOOKS KINDLY. My lovely little sister goes through one of the precious, shiny books on my bookshelf, and decides to tattoo my name all over the inside jacket of the front cover. Yeah, not a smart decision. She got a very big sisterly scolding from me. And I got to humongo-illustrate her name over her bookOne of the most satisfying revenges. #sisterwars

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme that I try hard to keep up with here on Bookzillan Society! It’s super easy to participate in! You give the hosts, Broke and Bookish a little visit and then follow their prompt and list your own top ten for whatever the prompt is? Fun, huh?

1. Create a reading time/read more books!

Of course everyone wants to read more books and I do too, because they are my salvation and my sanction and I need to read more. I want to read so many books and so I have to create a reading time to do this because reading so important to me! And also, there are so many good books out there, I WANT TO GOBBLE THEM ALL LIKE A TURKEY RUNNING FROM THANKSGIVING.

2. Clean out my bookshelf

OHMYGOD. I have to do this so badly. My bookshelf is a mess of a bunch of college books (these ones aren’t mine), textbooks, books from when I was younger, and my treasured books of YA and NA and MG and all my loves in the big wide world. So clearly, I need to prioritize this.

3. Not have any books overdue

I have a big problem with this. I would like to debate with my local library to please maximize or go a little lax with the time limit for returning books. I can’t read a book so quickly! I check out like 3 billion and then, like 2 weeks later, I get an email going “book blah blah blah is overdue…price is blah blah blah” and here I am going: “BUT I’M ONLY BOOK NUMBER ONE MILLION.”

4. REVIEW MORE: more blog appearances

Gawds, 2016 is going to have to be the year I step up and really commit to my blog. I want to review more books because I write them all separately and then make the graphics but then I hold off putting them together and I’m all AHHHHH because I want to give you awesome book reviews!!! And I want to be on my blog way more than I am now.

5. Read more contemporary

I want to read so much more contemporary. Gods above, I am a die-hard fantasy lover and sci-fi, just as much. BUT UM CONTEMPORARY. I’ve read very few contemporary this year and those that I have I’ve loved so much that I am driven to read more contemporary. It’s a beautiful genre, and I don’t even mean YA. Heck, I read YA fantasy and sci-fi and then MG fantasy and sci-fi and even some NA but contemporary? I WANT TO READ IT ALL.

6. “I have my priorities”-What I am saying in a glimpse into the future

I want so badly to be able to say this one day to someone. Be like, “let’s go have dinner out today” and I’ma be all “Uh, nuh uh, cousin, I have my priorities.” I want to prioritize my hobbies and what I wish to learn and do. I know I want to read more and write A HECK OF A LOT MORE and blog more and I want to practice piano more and learn about the brain more, so #priorities

7. Don’t read to catch up with hype, dearest Darth Veda (!!)

Some of the books I read, I read because I’ve found randomly and wanted to give it a try. But most of them, it’s because my friends or family have recommended it to me. But a very few of them, I’ll read because I want to fangirl with people, or I want to join a hype train, or I want to be in on all the gossip. I want to read what I want to read, rather than just to have something to converse with people. I’ve heard so many bloggers go “I must read this because the hype surrounding it is so enormous, and I want to join in on the hype”. I don’t want to do that. I have lots of other books and things I can talk about with people, and I don’t have to push myself to read a book just so I can fangirl about it. Although some are good, granted.

8. Convince my dog to read for me or teach it

Hey this is totally bookish!!! This is priorities. I’ll be getting a new dog soon, and I’m convinced the one I’ve been visiting knows how to read. I SWEAR. And my fish Blue knew how to read too. She would just stare at her food packet forever and then turn away like “Oh my god that is so boring.” But this dog–I’m going to convince it to read petty little bedtime stories for me. Together we shalt rule Neptune and turn everyone into squash! Except for you, you know

9. Set a reading goal, commit to it, and achieve it, and RATTLE THE STARS #celaenastyle

YASSSS you little squashes, YASSSSSSSS. I want to do this. I want to challenge myself and reach that challenge, and I want to grow as a reader. I want to read more and more books each year and love each and everyone of them and treasure every single minute I spend reading and read more!!! I want to do this so much. I want to, and I know I can.

10. Non-bookish: Acquire a personal munchkin

I’m in love with these things created by L. Frank Baum called MUNCHKINS because I want one so bad. I want a little yellow creature who looks like a mini human and sings pretty songs about the rainbow everyday and wears cute little striped clothes and acts like a total buffoon. For to the people like that, I love you until the death of me. I love you forever and ever and ever. So I want my own munchkin to be my friend and my dog’s friend and we’ll all live happily ever after. Maybe I’ll name my dog Toto because I really want to. And maybe I’ll name my munchkin Squashhead. Or maybe not.

Yay! That was super fun! And another big reading-related thing I want to focus on, that’s not really a resolution or a goal, is to read at my own pace. To stop rushing just to read more books because people eat up books in like 3 minutes and 28 seconds. I need some more time!! I need time to enjoy the book and think about the deep stuff and fall in love with it! So I will be doing that this year, for my own reading benefit. Plus, how did you guys like the new Top Ten Tuesday graphic? EEEEEEEEK. It’s so cute, I had to ask you.

Did you do a Top Ten Tuesday? leave me a link to yours if you did! do you share any of my resolutions? what are some bookish stuff YOU are going to work on in 2016? and most of all, what is the temperature for you??! it’s so freezing up in the northern hemisphere and I MISS Summer and Fall! I hate the cold, I hate showering in the cold, and I need fuzzy socks right now.

  1. My resolutions are more along the bloggy side of things than the bookish side of things, but I WOULD LOVE to acquire a personal munchkin. If you know where to get one, please let me know!

And that is a cute Top Ten Tuesday graphic. 🙂

Here are my resolutions for 2016.

    1. Aww, thank you! Don’t worry, I had some mental blog milestones as well for this year. And yes, I will stop by and gift you your own little Squashhead. Good day, dearie.

    1. Actually, yes! Although where I live, they don’t fine people anymore for having overdue library books, and I feel like now it takes you forever to get your hands on a book you want!

You have my attention ~ talk to me!
